Blue Bird All American School Buses Recalled to Fix Fuel Leak

Blue Bird is recalling 250 Type D transit-style All American school buses to fix a diesel fuel leak that could result in a vehicle fire if ignited.

The model-year 2007 through 2012 rear-engine buses were manufactured from April 12, 2006 through June 27 of this year and are equipped with 60-gallon fuel tanks. Blue Bird said in its NHTSA recall that the tank fuel line can develop a leak that exceeds the amount of allowable fuel spillage per FMVSS 301 on fuel system integrity.

The manufacturer added that it was in the process of developing a strategy to fix the ledk. A notification schedule for repairs can be obtained by calling Blue Bird at (478) 822-2242. Owners of these affected models can also contact NHTSA’s Vehicle Safety Hotline at (888) 327-4236.
