NHTSA’s Office of Defect Investigations (ODI) reports recalls involving generators and seat cushion latches.
General Motors is recalling 4,485 model year 2010 Chevrolet Express and GMC Savana 2500, 3500 and 4500 series vans due to a “condition in which the generator may develop a low resistance short within the voltage regulator,” according to the ODI. This defect could result in an engine compartment fire. Owners can contact Chevrolet directly at (800) 630-2438 or GMC at (866) 996-9463 or at www.gmownercenter.com.
Meanwhile, Thomas Built Buses has already fixed the four buses mentioned in a recently announced recall, which was due to a misalignment of the seat cushion locking mechanisms during vehicle assembly. Thomas said this error caused the buses to be non-compliant with FMVSS 222, School Bus Passenger Seating and Crash Protection.
